Ruth Kingsbury

Mrs. Ruth C. Kingsbury, age 92, of rural Greenville, passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 2, 2008 at Spectrum Health United Memorial-United Hospital, Greeenville. The daughter of William & Clara (Martens) Zimmerman, she was born on March 13, 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio. On Oct. 15, 1938, in Grand Rapids, she married Dale L. Kingsbury. Together, they made their home in Eureka Township and raised three sons. Ruth was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Greenville, where she was active in many of the churchs activities and circles. She had been a member of the Eureka Ladies Aid society since 1941 and was a charter member of the Greenville Area Senior Center, where she enjoyed playing cards. Ruth also enjoyed making dolls, sewing, quilting, crocheting, as well as many other handicrafts. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Clinton Tiffany; a son, Bruce Kingsbury in 1957; her husband, Dale L. Kingsbury in 1980; three brothers, Robert, William, & Frederick Zimmerman; a sister, Marion Loose; and a half-sister, Beatrice Schultz. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron & Dixie Kingsbury of Greenville, and Alan & Shirley Kingsbury of Gowen; six grandchildren, Debbie & John Bonk, Lisa Myles, Cindy & Jim Kroesing, Richard & Karen Garvey, Frederick & Evelyn Garvey, and Jeri Lynn Garvey; 13 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two half-brothers, Howard Tiffany & Evelyn Nielsen, and Leroy & Barb Tiffany, all of Gowen; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, with burial following at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. The Rev. Steve Charnley, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate.
