Ruth Leota (Jensen) Campbell, age 104, of Sidney, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 16, 2011 at her home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The daughter of William & Estella (Minerd) Noah, she was born on July 19, 1907 in Sidney. Over the years she had worked as a telephone operator, for three owner's of the Sidney drugstore, and retired from Sidney State Bank in 1972. She was a member of the former Sidney Congregational Church,a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church, as well as a member of the Danish Sisterhood Society and a life member of the Crescent Chapter No. 47 Order of the Eastern Star in Stanton. On June 21, 1929, in Sheridan, she married Seafred Jensen who preceded her in death in 1991. In 1992, she married Harry "John" Campbell who preceded her in death in 2004. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Laverne Noah; and two infant great-grandchildren, Sofia Petersen and Grady Petersen. Surviving are her children, Terry & Irene Jensen of Portland, and Esther & Red Petersen of Sidney; five grandchildren, Valerie Jensen of Portland, Eric & Julie Jensen of Aitken, Minnesota, John Jensen of Portland, Corinda Wilcox of Sidney, and Gary & Melissa Petersen of Grand Rapids; six great grandchildren, Hannah Jensen, Rebecca Jensen, Bailey Wilcox, Brett Wilcox, Eleanor Petersen, and Levi Petersen; a sister-in-law, Leota Campbell of Stanton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, including Jake Barrus of Sidney. Visitation with the family is Sunday, November 27, 2011 from 1-2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 2957 S. Grow Road at the corner of Sidney Road, Sidney, where memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Pastoral Leader Bernice Sorrels will officiate and Order of the Eastern Star rites will conclude the ceremonies with a luncheon following in the church hall.
