Ruth Jeanette Hopkins, age 82, of Fenwick, passed away late Friday evening, June 28, 2024 at her home under the loving care of her family and Corewell Health Hospice.
The daughter of John V. & Roberta (Bower) Snyder, she was born on July 14, 1941 in Greenville and was graduate of Greenville High School. She later attended college for nursing and had worked in the medical practices of Dr. G.J. Rottman, Dr. John Halick, Dr. Ahmad Younis, and Dr. Henry Danielsky, as well as at the former United Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
On September 5, 1964, in Greenville, she married Earl Alfred Hopkins and together they raised three children, attended Beth Haven Baptist Church, and enjoyed nearly 55 years of marriage until Earl passed away on August 30, 2019.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she also helped on the family farm, delighted in helping with the family pony ride business at fairs and carnivals, and also enjoyed mowing her lawn, gardening, and tending to her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl A. Hopkins; and a brother, Robert M. “Bob” Snyder.
Surviving are her children, Daniel Hopkins of Fenwick, Patrick & Kristine Hopkins of Sheridan, and Michelle & David Johnson of Stanton; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren (with the ninth due soon); two brothers, John & Pam Snyder, and Arnold & Deb Snyder; a sister-in-law, Donna Snyder; a special nephew, Ervin & Julie Hopkins; and many other dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Honoring Ruth’s wishes, private committal services will be held and she will be laid to rest beside her husband at Sunny Hill Cemetery near the family farm in Fenwick. Instead of flowers, Ruth would have appreciated contributions in her memory to Beth Haven Baptist Church (1158 W. Carson City Road, Sheridan, MI 48884).
