Mrs. Ruby Mae Morris, age 87, of Fenwick, passed away Monday evening at Spectrum Health-Blodgett Hospital, East Grand Rapids.
The daughter of Frank W. & Emma E. (Greenhoe) Stearns, she was born on Aug. 24, 1921 in Sheridan. On June 11, 1938, in Sheridan, she married Wilmer C. Morris.
Together they raised four sons, in addition to farming. Ruby had also worked outside the home at the Post Office and driving school bus and enjoyed flowers and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Laverne; two brothers, Donald and Arnold Stearns; and her husband of over 70 years, Wilmer, on July 5, 2008;
Surviving are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Gilbert & Margaret Morris of Fenwick, Donald & Sandra Morris of Big Rapids, Larry Morris of Stanton, and Charles & Deanna Morris of Fernley, Nevada; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Wilbur Stearns of Sheridan, Lloyd & Maxine Stearns of Greenville, and Barry & Nancy Stearns of New Era; two brothers-in-law, Fred & Maxine Morris of Sheridan, and Bob & Elizabeth Morris of Howard City; four sisters-in-law, Phyllis Stearns of Sheridan, Inez Welsh of Wacousta, Alice & Robert Childs of Belding, and Caroline & Forest Sage of Sheridan; 13 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2009 from the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with burial following at Clear Lake Cemetery, Fenwick. Rubys son, Gilbert Morris, will officiate.
