Ross H. Taylor, age 75, of Cedar Springs, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
He was born on January 5, 1949, in Lansing, to Walter & Meta Taylor.
Ross proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in South Korea, 2nd Infantry Division. He was awarded the National Defense Serve Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
Ross worked for the U.S. Forestry Department, retiring after 35 years as an accomplished surveyor. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsmen and enjoyed spending time with family and many lifelong friends. He will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Ross was preceded in death by parents, Walter R. and Meta J. Taylor; as well as his sister, Meta A. Martinez. Surviving are his son, James DeMalignon, Jr.; his two nephews and a niece, Nick M. Martinez, Joe V. Martinez, and Christine T. Wernette; his three grand-nephews and two grand-nieces, Nick S. Martinez, Mavric M. Martinez, Evan C. Wernette; Mia T. Wernette, and Zoë K. Wernette.
Honoring his wishes, military honors will be performed at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday August 24, 2024 at The Gerber Guest House (130 E. Dayton St., Fremont). A BBQ with Ross' favorite music will follow the ceremony.
