Rose Schwalm

Rose Marie (Winters) Schwalm, age 78, of Sand Lake, formerly of Saginaw and Gaylord, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Corewell Health - Greenville Hospital. The daughter of Earl J. & Mary E. (Theisen) Winters, she was born May 28, 1945 in Saginaw. Raised in Saginaw Township, she graduated from SS Peter & Paul Catholic High School in 1963. Before raising a family, she was employed by Second National Bank. Rose Marie spent most of her life as a stay-at-home mother, spending much of that time in Swan Creek Township, and later in Hemlock. Later in life she was employed by Luther Manor in Saginaw as a Certified Nurses' Aide, and later was employed at Reptron Manufacturing in Gaylord. A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of Mary Queen of Apostles Catholic Parish in Sand Lake. Rose Marie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. As a grandmother, her eyes always lit up when she saw or spoke of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Christmas and Easter were very special times for her. Finally, she kept God and her Faith close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Earl Winters, and Dale Winters; and a sister, Mary Marx. Surviving her are her four children, Matthew & Rachel Schwalm of Asbury, Iowa, Thomas & Mirje Schwalm of Tallinn, Estonia, Theresa & Jeremy Jerome of Sand Lake, Michigan, and Michael & Karah Schwalm of Merrill, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Zachary, Jocelyn, Ashley, Haley, Charly, Ruby, Matilda, Madisyn, and Marie; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Lily; a sister, Joan Ticknor of Binghamton, New York; and many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Mary Queen of Apostles Catholic Parish, 1 W. Maple Street, Sand Lake, Michigan, and interment will take place at Sand Lake Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville, 616-754-5638.
