Rose Marie Hernandez, age 79, of Greenville, Michigan, formerly of Jackson, passed away Friday, September 18, 2026 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Michigan. The daughter of Santiago & Janie (Murray) Luna, she was born on July 19, 1947 in Lake Odessa, Michigan.

On April 19, 1963, in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, she married Carlos Castro Hernandez and together they raised five children, adopted two more, enjoyed over 63 years of marriage, and shared a strong belief in family, whom she loved immensely. A faithful servant to her Lord and Savior, Rose was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She never knew a stranger and always had a smile and a kind word to share. Rose believed in feeding anyone that come to her home -- feeding souls, not just bellies. She also had a passion for passing on her handmade recipes to her children and many grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers and sisters, Martha Townsend, Bernard Luna, Alphonso “Al” Luna, John Luna, and Paul Luna; and a granddaughter, Erin Lynn Hernandez.

Surviving are her husband, Carlos C. Hernandez; their children, Lisa Hernandez, Kareen & Sherrie Hernandez, Carlos Hernandez, Jr., Renée & Steven Taber, and Tanya & Larry Lee; two adopted children, Jerica Herandez, and Amelia Hernandez; three brothers and a sister, Jerónimo “Jerry” Luna, Eugene & Maryann Luna, James Luna, and Sarah Luna; twelve grandchildren, Janie, Corrina, Lucas, Lucianna, Tanner, Isabel, Gerald, Caleb, Carlos, Christopher, Rena, and Jesús; fourteen great-grandchildren, Natalie, Sofya, Aeriana, Graham, Weston, Amelia, Aleena, Mason, Sadie, Carter, Amarra, Kora, Luka, and Fletcher; several siblings-in-law; and many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life for Rose is being planned and will be announced later. Rite of Committal will take place privately at Plainfield Township Cemetery near Rockford.
