Mr. Ronnie Lee Schnicke, age 49, of Woodard Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, Jan. 6, 2008 at Carson City Hospital after a brief illness. The son of LeRoy & Mamie (Bogert) Schnicke, he was born on March 11, 1958 in Ionia.
A graduate of Ionia High School, Ronnie had worked at Granco-Clark in Belding for 13 years. With his family, Ronnie operated R&T Auction Service, in addition to working at Ravells Orchards in Fenwick and being a volunteer firefighter with the Ronald Township Fire Department for almost 32 years. An avid stock car racing fan, Ronnie co-owned cars that he raced at Ionia and Crystal. A skilled mechanic, he also enjoyed tractors, steam engines, fire trucks, and hunting.
On Oct. 15, 1984 he married the former Tammy Jo Clements. She preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 2002. On March 24, 2007, in Belding, he married Deanna Jean Zeigler, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Ron & Cassie Schnicke of Belding, Brandy & Mario Ledesma of Ionia, and Mamie Schnicke and her fiance, Kyle Delinsky, of Ionia; an adopted son, Mike Misner; four grandchildren, Blake and Tammy Ledesma, and Anna and Keegan Schnicke; his parents, LeRoy & Mamie Schnicke of Woodard Lake; a brother, Dale & Debbie Schnicke of Florida; a father-in-law, Raymond Zeigler of Woodard Lake; three step-children, Lisa Zeigler of Illinois, Andy Pohl of Ohio, and Megan Pohl of Florida; three step-grandchildren, Austin and Dominic Raterink, and Alucard Fockler; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many, many special friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at Shiloh Community Church with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Burial will follow at Woodard Lake Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where envelopes for memorial contributions will be available.
