Ronald Smith

Ronald D. Smith 63, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 1:18 p.m., September 14, 2014, in his residence. The family will have a memorial service and luncheon at Ron's home on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt Zion is assisting the family with arrangements. Ron was born February 7, 1951, in Mt. Vernon, IL the son of Berthel and Lena (Fields) Smith. He retired from Caterpillar. He formerly served as an Auxiliary Deputy for the Macon County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of the Son's of American Legion in Sullivan, loved going to auction sales and enjoyed hunting. Surviving are his children: Jeremy Smith (Jeanne) of Decatur, and Karen Fletcher and her husband Richard of Summit Point, WV; sister: Theresa Everly of Owaneco, IL. Four grandchildren and one step-granddaughter also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son: Eric Smith.
