Roger John Marquard, age 75, of Alto, Michigan, formerly of Wayland, Michigan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 19, 2026. Roger was born on November 28, 1950, in Plainwell, Michigan, to Walter and Olive (Badgerow) Marquard.
Roger's greatest joys were serving the Lord, spending time with family and friends, and bringing happiness to those around him. Roger also served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. He was known for his generous heart, compassionate nature, and willingness to help anyone in need. His legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know him. He was a faithful supporter of his church and numerous ministries and found great joy in encouraging others in their walk of faith.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Olive; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Colleen, Robert and Sue; sister in-laws Sandra and Betty Jean; brother in-law Thomas; and his infant sister, Jacquelyn.
He will be deeply missed by his children, Paul (Lauren) Marquard, Brad Marquard, Leanne (Chad) Cross, Phillip Marquard, and his bonus daughters, Helena and Jenn. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Aliya (Austin) Mason, Nicholas Lang-Marquard, Phillip "JR" Marquard, Mason Cross, Brynlee Marquard, Landen Cross, Brianna Marquard, Bennett Marquard, and Ethan Marquard; his great-granddaughter, Anastasia Mason; many foster children whose lives he helped shape and influence; his brothers and sister, Kenneth Marquard, Donald (Janna) Marquard, Larry Marquard, and Arlene Robinson; brother and sister in laws, Kenneth (Sandra) Hazen, Rodney (Diana) Hazen; many nieces and nephews; and his close friend and mother of his children, Beverly Sutter.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Gaines Church, 1612 92nd Street SE, Caledonia, Michigan, with Pastor Tom Datema and Kenneth Marquard, officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gaines Church, Our Daily Bread Ministries, Les Feldrick Ministries, or Discovering the Jewish Jesus, organizations that were close to Roger's heart.
The family would like to thank all who have supported them through their prayers, love, and kindness during this difficult time.
