Roger Deering

February 17, 1944 — June 8, 2025

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Roger Gustav Deering on June 8, 2025. Born on February 17, 1944, in Bad Axe, MI, Roger was a beacon of joy in the lives of all who knew him. A man known for his wit, humor, and unyielding love, Roger was a testament to the power of laughter and love in overcoming life’s challenges. His capacity to look after others, even when he himself was in need of help, continuously touched the hearts of those around him. He was a supportive pillar in his community, a loyal friend, and a loving father. Roger spent a significant portion of his life as a Sales Contractor in the Lumber industry, where his charisma and humor left an indelible mark. His work was more than just a job to him; it was a platform where he could foster connections, bringing warmth and a sense of belonging to his colleagues and clients alike. His retirement years were spent in Grand Haven, Michigan, where he continued to spread his infectious laughter and warmth to everyone he met. In his catholic faith, Roger found solace and strength. As stated in the Bible, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." (Matthew 5:8). Roger lived this verse, his heart filled with genuine love and compassion. Roger is survived by his daughters, Deborah (Matthew) Zondlak and Renay (Travis) Deering-Horton; his son, Mark (Amy) Deering; his grandchildren, Britney Zondlak, Ashley (Bronson) Swan, Emily Zondlak, Ryan O'Hearn, Brooke Denslow, and Luke Denslow; his great-grandchildren, Sawyer Swan, Madison Swan, Harper Swan, and Benjamin O'Hearn; as well as his sister, Sandra Krohn, and brother, Dale Deering. Roger was preceded in death by his father Jacob Deering, mother Elvera Deering, daughter Constance Lewis, ex-wife Joan Deering, and brother-in-law Jerry Krohn. Each of these individuals held a special place in Roger's life, and his love for them was immeasurable. The void left by Roger's passing is immense, yet his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched. His legacy of love, humor, and selflessness will continue to inspire us all. We invite you to share your cherished memories and photographs of Roger on his memorial page as a tribute to his remarkable life. Let's celebrate the life of Roger Deering, a man who truly lived and loved with his whole heart.
