Rodney Lee Buxton

Rodney Lee Buxton, a cherished husband and friend, passed away on September 15, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, talent, and kindness. Rodney was born on October 9, 1965, in Lansing, Michigan, to Gerald and Madge (Wireman) Buxton. 

From an early age, his grandmother instilled in him a love of cooking that carried over into his adult life, leading him to explore becoming a sous-chef at one point. Rodney's ever-curious personality led him to explore many interests, including adding barber college to his long list of talented pursuits. Even though his interests varied, one passion remained constant, and that was his love of singing. Rodney enjoyed raising his voice in the church choir as well as men's ensembles, where he found belonging, fellowship, and lifelong friends.

Rodney was a skilled landscaper and a man with a generous spirit and a deep appreciation for the land he cherished. Proud of his Native American heritage, he honored his lineage through the stories he shared and the acts of kindness he lavished on others.

Rodney, with his wife and love of his life, Charlotte (Perkin) Buxton, together built a life filled with shared dreams and unwavering support, a testament to the profound bond they nurtured through their years together.

Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Madge (Wireman) Buxton, and his brother, Chris Buxton.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, step-daughter Elizabeth Murphy, sisters Wendy, Dori, Annie, and Shirley, and several adored nieces and nephews, along with many other cherished friends and family.

A Homegoing Service is planned for Saturday, October 11th at 11 am at Union Missionary Baptist Church located at 500 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Lansing, MI 48915, phone number 517-485-7705.
