Robert Shortsle

Robert L. Shortsle, age 69, of Grand Rapids, Michigan passed Wednesday morning on August 12, 2015 from natural causes. Robert was born and raised within the Grand Rapids area. He graduated with his diploma from Rogers High School and continued on with his education in welding. He joined the United States Navy in 1966, serving four years in the Vietnam era as a Navy Coxswain. Robert had a special interest in hunting and had a love for going to the races with his son Timothy. He also loved playing bingo at The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, where he resided for the last year. Robert was proceeded in death by his parents, Lawrence & Doris (Ypma) Shortsle; wife, Esther shortsle, and brother, Fred Shortsle; Surviving is his children, Brent (Lisa) Shortsle, Timothy Shortsle, Brenda (Todd) Keeler and Christopher Shortsle; seven grandchildren, Michael Shortsle, Candice (Cory) Hadrich, Tricia (Josh) Haveman, Sarah Shortsle, Stephanie Keeler, Samantha Keeler, and Brooklynn Keeler; and three great-grandchildren, Aubri Shortsle, Ayden Shortsle, and Leoa Hadrich; along with his brothers, Arn (Beth) Shortsle and Dan (Carol) Shortsle. Memorial services will be held at The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505 on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 1:00pm. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow at Alive Ministries, 263 Church St, Jenison, MI 49428. Robert will greatly be missed by all.
