Robert Reeves

February 9, 1949 — June 27, 2019

Robert Earl Reeves, age 70, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, June 27, 2019 from home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Michigan. The son of William Grant & Sylvia Margaret (Wilson) Reeves, he was born on February 9, 1949 in Richmond, Indiana and became a "Michigander" in 1997, though Richmond was never far from his heart. Robert worked at True Value Hardware in Greenville-a job he loved and wished he had made his career sooner. He would want a shout out and a thank you to this amazing team of people who treated him as an employee all through his illness. True Value, the "value" belongs in all of you! On April 2, 1999, in Grand Rapids, he married Kelly Anne Denkins and together they enjoyed twenty years of marriage. Robert and Kelly paved the way to online romance and proved that meeting and falling in love from the inside out is the glue that bonds a relationship. Robert (also known in Indiana as "Bobby"), enjoyed playing golf, fishing, cooking and his never ending supply of computer games. When walking into his home he would want to feed you-a true Southerner in heart. His love for cooking brought much laughter to the dinner table. He was experimental to say the least and sometimes one never knew what they were eating but ate it anyway because Robert made it. His baking skills left much room for improvement -his flat biscuits will be fondly remembered -- referring to the ones made of flour. Robert played guitar with the worship team at Greenville New Testament and New Hope Church of God. He was a "rocker" at heart and often received "encouragement" to turn his guitar volume down or pass out complimentary ear plugs. Robert loved the Lord, loved to laugh, and loved to eat and was always the first person to be sampling the cuisine at church gatherings. He was, without a doubt, a people person. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings; and his beautiful daughter-in-law, Sherry Reeves. Surviving are his wife, Kelly Reeves of Greenville; son, Jeremiah Reeves of Indiana; stepsons, Phil & Rachel Feehan of Greenville; Michael DeJong of Cedar Springs, John & Laura DeJong of San Antonio, Texas; two step-daughters, Jessica Feehan and Julie & Daniel Chance of Indiana; seven beautiful grandchildren, Sarah Chance Makayla Reeves, Cameron, Kaden, Kahlea Parker, and Alli and Emma Feehan; a sister, Phyllis (Ralph) Johnson of Indiana; his mother-in-law, Dawn Halfaday of Greenville; two brothers-in-law, Jay & Debbie Denkins of Greenville, and Tony Denkins of Grand Rapids; and a quirky perky sister-in-law, Shawn & Tom Aylsworth of Greenville, who adored him. Instead of flowers, Robert would have appreciated contributions in his memory by simply reaching out to other's with the message that God loves them and they have a purpose on this side of Heaven.. He would want everyone to love, be quick to forgive, and laugh until your belly hurts and finally...to eat. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville.
