Robert Allen Plett, age 68, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully at his home with his daughters and dog, Buster by his side on Friday, May 31, 2019. He was born on February 23, 1951, in Grand Rapids, to the late John and Cleo (Mortenson) Plett. Robert graduated from Rogers High School with the class of 1969. He proudly enlisted and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Robert had a passion for woodworking; he began his journey in the field at Kindel Furniture Company which led him to his career at Steelcase where he worked for nearly 25 years before retiring. He loved his jeep, NASCAR, photography, fishing, and taking his girls camping during their childhood years.
Survivors include his children, Melinda (Nathan) Warfield, Jessica (Jeremy) Forman, and Marshall; grandchildren, Robert (Carla), Johnathan (Lexc), Kali, Cheyenne, Alyssa, Parker, Olivia, and Brieann; great-grandchildren, Dallas, Arleigha, and Zailey; sisters, Kim and Pattie; and many other family members and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Marie; his parents; and great-grandson, Remington.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Spectrum Health, Spectrum Health Hospice, Spectrum Health 7 North, and Megan Vivoda for the wonderful care and compassion they have shown throughout this difficult time. Jessica and Mel would also like to thank Jeremy Forman and multiple other family members that helped out with care during the last few weeks of their dad's life.
