Robert Louis Myers, age 83, of Comstock Park, formerly of Greenville, Grand Rapids, and Atlanta, Georgia, passed away Monday morning, February 10, 2025 at Boulder Creek Assisted Living & Memory Care in Rockford.
The son of Hugh Andrew & Melba Evelyn (Jorgensen) Myers, he was born on November 25, 1941 in Greenville, Michigan, was raised on the family farm in Fairplains Township, and was a 1960 graduate of Greenville High School.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley State College (now University) and worked as a Medical Technologist at the former Blodgett Memorial Medical Center and retired from Children’s Health Care of Atlanta after 27 years of service.
On April 6, 1985, in Hiawassee, Georgia, he married Elizabeth Elane Cable and together they enjoyed nearly 40 years of marriage. Robert enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid flower gardener, and will long be remembered for his tree cutting skills.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Robert proudly served during the Vietnam War area and earned the Air and Space Longevity Service Award as well as the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he continued to serve our Nation, first in the U.S. Navy Reserves and later in the Air National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ivan Myers. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Myers of Comstock Park; his children, Don & Sherrie Myers of Grand Rapids, Mark & Amanda Myers of Comstock Park, and Laura Myers of Tucson, Arizona; three grandchildren, Michelle & Cody Kastanek, Derek Myers, and Kyle Myers; a great-granddaughter, Annabelle Kastanek; a sister, Allegra Donnelly; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Christiansen’s Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday. Chaplain Cecilio Reyna of Faith Hospice will officiate and burial, with military honors rendered jointly by the United States Air Force and the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post No. 101 will follow at East Montcalm Cemetery.
Envelopes for memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or Faith Hospice will be available at the funeral home.
