Robert (Bob) Maxson, age 63 of Portage, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center-Battle Creek.
One of four sons born to R. Jack and Miriam (Haveman) Maxson, he was born on December 8, 1948 in Kalamazoo and was a 1967 graduate of Galesburg-Augusta High School.
Sgt. Maxson was a proud Vietnam era veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was employed by Ray Ellison Homes in San Antonio, Texas, for many years. Bob also had a firewood business in San Antonio. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved animals, especially his beloved Dobermans, and his Shih Tzus.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, R.Jack Maxson; his mother, Miriam Maxson-Svancara; his step-father, Joe Svancara; a brother, Mark Maxson; a nephew, Mark Maxson; a niece, Robin Maxson.
Surviving are his former wife, Cindi Reynolds-Maxson; an older brother, Jim (Pat) Maxson; and Bob's twin brother, Roger (Bobbi) Maxson.
Committal services, with full military honors, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Following the ceremony, please join us at the Augusta V.F.W. for lunch and the sharing of fond memories about Bobs life from family and friends.
