Robert Wayne Maddox

June 17, 1946 — September 29, 2025

Robert Maddox, age 79, of Walker, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025, after a series of medical issues.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy (1963-1967). In 2010, he retired from the American Seating Company after 40+ years. He loved to tinker and play Mr. Fix-it. During his life, he enjoyed hunting with his family, AKA: The Blade Brothers. Spending time in earlier life up north at Mom and Dad’s Property with family. In later years he enjoyed building birdhouses, patio furniture, and refinishing old furniture. He also enjoyed multi-state motorcycle trips with family and friends, fishing, and spending time at the Little Red Cabin in White Cloud.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Harland Maddox; siblings, Douglas Maddox, Joanne Rittenhouse, Nancy Martz-Sorenson, James Maddox, Thomas Maddox, sister-in-law, Christine (Poel) Maddox; and brother-in-law, James Bayles.

Bob will be missed and forever loved by his children: Rick (Dee) Maddox, Anita Baker (Dave), Joe (Chrissy) Maddox and many grandchildren, siblings, Jeanne Bayles, Jerome (Marilyn) McGraw, Frederick (Cyndee) Maddox, Sue Owens, Phil (Beth) Maddox, Dede Briggs; siblings-in-law, Rob Rittenhouse, Ann Maddox, Christine Maddox, and many nieces and nephews, and many very special friends that were like family. He and his wife Suzy shared over 30 wonderful years together - a bond built on laughter, adventure, and enduring love.

Though we grieve, we also celebrate. We celebrate a life well-lived, a legacy of compassion, and the countless moments that remind us of how lucky we were to know him. Bob may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

Relatives and friends will celebrate Bob's life beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025 at the Sts. George, Peter and Paul Aid Society Hall, 1513 Quarry N.W., Grand Rapids, Michigan, with military honors and a luncheon to follow. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to assist with final expenses. Your support during this time of loss is deeply appreciated and will help ease the burden as we honor Bob’s memory.
