Robert Koning

Robert Lee Koning, age 91, of Belding, Michigan passed away on April 4, 2021 at home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of Ilo Ray & Velda Louise (Federhoff) Koning, he was born on July 23, 1929 in Grand Rapids. On October 28, 1966 in Houston, Texas, he married Barbara Jean Stoddard, and together, they enjoyed over 55 years of marriage and raised seven children. Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Asiatic & Pacific American Theater and then enlisted into the United States Air Force. After his discharge from the Air Force, he was a quality assurance auditor with the federal government. Robert had a passion for creative writing and enjoyed writing poetry and completing crossword puzzles. He was a man of God and enjoyed reading his Bible and religious publications and preaching The Word. He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Ray, Janice, Lois, George, and Keith; and a granddaughter, Tara. Surviving are his wife, Barbara J. Koning; their children, Keith & Kerry Koning, Alan & Sara Koning, Robert G. Koning, Trina Koning, Wendy Koning, Jamie Koning, and Jessica & Scott Erfurth; nine grandchildren, Justin, Katie, Rebecca, Bryan, Simeon, Bobbye, Aaron, Hattie, and Alex; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Christine, Jack, Sharon, David, and Ross.
