Robert "Bob" Gillette, age 94, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021. He was born on August 23, 1927, in Grand Rapids, to Forrest & Adeline (Bockman) Gillette.
Bob married Ruth Crips on October 22, 1947, in Grand Rapids. She preceded him in death on September 8, 2020.
After attending Godfree Lee High School in Grand Rapids MI, he enlisted in the US Navy serving our country in the Pacific Theatre during WWII.
Robert completed his law degree from Wayne State University. He worked as an attorney and was city manager for Coopersville.
Bob enjoyed golf, bowling, boating, and working on his motorhomes. He attended Calvary Undenominational Church with his wife.
Survivors include his children, Gail (Wes) Sietsema and Mark (Maria) Gillette; grandchildren, Melanie & Matthew Sietsema and Rachel & Jonathan Gillette.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Gillette; infant son, Robert L. Gillette Jr.; and siblings, Harold, Ken, Roger, Lucy, Barbara, Bertille, and June.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 8, 2021, at Wellspring Community Church, 4466 Bauer Rd, Hudsonville, MI 49426, with Pastor Steve Gibson officiating. Military honors will follow. Burial will be at Rest Lawn Memorial Park.
