Robert Gene Dirkse

Robert Dirkse, age 74, of Cedar Springs, Michigan, passed away on May 7, 2026. Born on April 12, 1952, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Jacob and Corrine (DenBoer) Dirkse.

A graduate of Hudsonville High School, Robert dedicated many years of hard work as a cutting pressman and maintenance worker at Caraustar Custom Packaging in Wyoming, Michigan, until his retirement in 2020.

Outside of work, Bob was happiest in nature. He was an avid outdoorsman who found peace and excitement in hunting and fishing. Whether he was raising animals, working around the property, or foraging for mushrooms in the Michigan woods, he had a deep appreciation for the land and the quiet rewards of rural life.

He is survived by his children, Amy (Todd) Terry and Tim (Carrie) Dirkse; his five grandchildren; his siblings, Judy Gerrits, Jake Dirkse, and Marve (Jeannie) Dirkse; and several nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Dennis, Don, and Richard Dirkse; his sisters-in-law, Kay Dirkse and Ima Dirkse; and his brother-in-law, Marve Gerrits.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 27th, at 1:00 pm, at the Solon Township Hall, 15185 Algoma Ave NE, Cedar Springs, MI 49319.
