Robert Corbett

On Sunday February 21, 2021, Robert James Corbett, loving son, father, and grandfather passed away at age 59 due to complications following a stroke. Robert was born July 30, 1961 in Grand Rapids, MI. He attended East Grand Rapids schools and enjoyed participating in sports. He went on to study at Michigan State University and Ferris State University in the IT field, obtaining his master's degree. Robert held many different jobs over his career including most recently at Northpointe Bank in their IT department. Robert married once, having two daughters, Alexandra and Kelsey, and later had a son, William. He had a passion for sports. He particularly enjoyed Michigan State University football. He held season tickets for many years and enjoyed going to the games with his daughters. He was also a handyman who enjoyed working on projects around his home, as well as helping family with their projects. He was known for being a good family man who took great joy in being a grandpa. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Koehler; daughters, Alexandra and Kelsey; son, William; grandson, Thiago Williams; sister, Jill (Paul) Taylor; step-brother, Sal Vickers; nephew, Daniel (Nicole) Taylor; and great-nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert Corbett; and step-father, Jack Koehler. A small Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, February 28, 2021, for family only, due to COVID restrictions and guidelines.
