Robert Dennis “Bob” Hilliker, age 80, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025 in the emergency room at Corewell Health-Greenville Hospital after suffering a sudden brain aneurysm.
The son of Carl Raymond & Audrey Maxine (Brooks) Hilliker, he was born on September 17, 1944 in Edmore, Michigan, and was a Class of 1962 graduate of Greenville High School. He then enlisted in the United States Navy with aspirations of becoming a Navy diver, however his “flat feet” prevented him from continuing to serve and he was honorably discharged.
On June 19, 1965, in Greenville, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jean “Jeanie” Quillan and together they raised three children, “adopted” a fourth, and enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage.
Bob had worked at Amway Corporation in Ada as a LAN (local area network) administrator, managing the company’s network hardware and software, and training others on how to use it. After being downsized and outsourced, Bob drove school bus for Greenville Public Schools -- a job he truly delighted in.
A skilled woodworker, he also enjoyed woodcarving, riding motorcycles, trips to the Upper Peninsula, and fishing. As anyone who met Bob could attest to, he had a gift for conversation and storytelling and will long be remembered by his family and friends as the greatest bullshitter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Patricia Sauder. Surviving are his wife, Jeanie Hilliker of Greenville; their children, Renay (Hilliker) Dean, Chad & Jamie Hilliker, Daedra Hilliker & Alexia Huntzinger, and Patty Pixley; grandchildren, Jordan & Lindsey Eyer, Colton & Broghan Eyer, Anthony & Colleen Kruszkowski, Alexandra Hilliker & Sammy Rabbani, Kendell Huntzinger, Haidyn Hilliker, Shiloh Hilliker, and Ben & Bre (Eyer) Eier; great-grandchildren, Jameson Eyer, Ronan Eyer, Reyna Eyer, Abigail Kruszkowski, Tessa Kruszkowski, Sashiko Reign Rabbani, and Fox (Eyer) Eier; and many dear friends.
The family invites relatives and friends to join them in celebrating Bob’s life from 2-7 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the Candlestone Inn in Belding, Michigan.
