Robert Blevins

December 24, 1939 — October 19, 2010

Robert Dean "Bob" Blevins, age 70, of Cadillac, passed away peacefully at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at his home under the loving care of his family and Mercy Hospice, after fighting his battle with cancer for six years. He closed his eyes peacefully and went into God's loving hands. Robert was born on Dec. 24, 1939 on N. Park Street in Cadillac to his parents, Russell Roland and Gerda Linnea Blevins. He graduated from Cadillac High School in 1958, served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962 and wed his wonderful and caring wife, Mary Margaret Moore, on Dec. 23, 1961. He started to work at the young age of 12, first by delivering milk with Carl Abrahamson. Other jobs he had were working at A&P Food Store and Valley IGA in the produce department. He also was a gas station attendant at Peterson Service Station. In 1973, he and his wife started The Panel Shop, later changing the name to Countryside Kitchen & Bath Center. Robert retired in 2002 due to his health. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. His pride and joy was having his family with him at his home and family dinners. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, camping and searching around on his laptop computer. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Mary Blevins; daughters, Kathleen Jo and Kristine Joanne Blevins; his wonderful grandchildren, Kyle, Katelynn, Kaleb, Kelsey and Jarrett Blevins and Whitney and Paige Moore; and his special friends that would stop by to visit him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Gerda Blevins; his brother, Frederick Blevins; sister, Russella Ann Blevins; daughter, Kari Blevins; in-laws, Robert and Margaret Moore; and brother-in-law, Jon Moore. A celebration of life luncheon will be held from 1:00 to:00 3 p.m. on Oct. 31, 2010 at the Moose Lodge. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the family or Selma Township Fire Department, who was always there when he needed them.
