Rick Marshall

Rick Allen Marshall, age 64, of Carson City, passed away Tuesday morning, May 14, 2019 at his home under the loving care of his family and Sparrow Hospice. The son of Maurice Allen & Edith Rowena (Nelson) Marshall, he was born on September 5, 1954 in Alma. On June 29, 1974, in Vestaburg, he married Sandra Ruth Komperda and together they enjoyed almost forty-five years of marriage and raised two children. Rick retired from the Michigan State Police where he worked as a law enforcement officer in the Motor Carrier Division for twenty-two years. He enjoyed Tigers baseball, his dogs, visits to The Muffin Top Bakery, and rocking on his front porch. He was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Todd Marshall in 1979; and his mother, Edith Marshall in 2009. Surviving are his wife, Sandra Marshall of Carson City; their children, Ryan & Carissa Marshall of Centerville, Iowa, and Laura & Daniel Normington of Portland; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; his father, Maurice Marshall of Vestaburg; three brothers, Jeff & Diane Marshall of Vestaburg, Randy & Ginger Marshall of Vestaburg, and Rod & Terri Marshall of Scottville; and several nieces and nephews. As Rick wished, a private family graveside service will take place at Ferris Center Cemetery near Vestaburg.
