Richard Vanvugt

Richard Lee van Vugt passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the age of 58. Rich was raised in Grand Rapids by his parents Wim & Jo Ann, along with his brother, Daniel. He also had 4 more siblings: Penny, Larry, Rhonda, and Rob. Rich lived his life on his own terms and was full of love and generosity for those close to him and those in need of help. Rich was a uniquely bright mind in the Grand Rapids construction community. After spending years with Herman Miller in Grand Rapids and Atlanta, he opened and ran his own business, Odanah Construction, along with his wife, Amber. Despite all he was able to design and build throughout the years, his proudest achievements were his 5 children: Tony, Jackie, Corbin, Grace, Alyssa, and grandchild, Kai. Along with his family and friends, Rich loved sports. He was a die-hard fan of the Detroit Lions and MSU Spartans. Rich also enjoyed raising chickens with his family, and spending time on the golf course. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Visitation will take place, Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 10:00 am until 12:00 p.m. (Noon), at Cottonwood Church, 1101 Cypress Drive, Jenison, MI 49428.
