Greenville, Michigan

Richard David Thomas, Jr., age 71, of Greenville, Michigan, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026 at his home under the loving care of his family and Corewell Health Hospice.

The son of Jean Doris (Dagy) & Richard David Thomas, Sr., he was born on December 19, 1954 in Columbia, South Carolina. Richard worked as a mason, finding his passion in stone work. Throughout his life he did many jobs where he could express his creativity, and deliver for his clients a beautiful piece of work. Later in life, Richard worked for Klein Plastics where he made life long friends that became extended family.

On October 19, 1985, Richard married Lisa Jo Koorndyk and together enjoyed over 40 years of marriage and were blessed with four children. His wife, children and nine grandchildren were the center of his world.

He fought with incredible determination to not let his illness deprive him of being able to walk his three daughters down the aisle, a true testament to his deep love and devotion. He was blessed to have also been able to see four more grandchildren welcomed into the world. He had the softest heart when it came to his family, always putting them first and cherishing every moment spent together.

Richard enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing golf with his friends and family, fishing and hunting. These passions brought him great happiness and provided opportunities to create long lasting friendships. He was a member of the Anointed Archers and Blood Brothers where he could share his love of the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Thomas; and a nephew, Alan Steven.

Leaving behind his wife, Lisa Thomas of Greenville; their children, Tyler Thomas (Amanda Moore), Leah (Tyler) Evans, Kara (Jeremy) Dalton, Erin (Lane) Stotler; Nine grandchildren, Kennedy, Elizabeth, Connor, Emmett, Zoey, Hudson, Calvin, Colt and Octavia; his father, Richard Thomas Sr.; a brother, Robert (Stephanie) Thomas; and asister, Gloria-Jean (Jeffery) Allison.
