On April 13th, 2026, Richard Michael Lane passed at the age of 70. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Michelle Lane whom he cherished with his whole being. Also, brother Thomas Lane and sister Linda Temple. He will be joining his mother, Helen, father Orville, sister Sandra and beloved dog Lucy along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
In 1980 he got a job at Butterworth Hospital in housekeeping. He was reliable and thorough and did his best. Then in early 2000s, he took a chance and applied to be a transporter within surgery. He was worried he wouldn't make it as his reading and spelling was not the best. He got the job. He was so excited to go to work everyday for 14 years. Despite all of his health issues that crept up during those years, he absolutely loved going to work. He would be praised regularly by the nurses and staff along with patients and their families. Before the children's hospital was built, he would transport kids and over the years he had several thank you cards that those children made. All he did was take them from point A to point B but he left an impression.
His pride and joy was his daughter. He raised her mostly on his own during the dreaded teenage years and survived. He saw her grow into her own person. Make good and bad decisions and was always an ear for anyone. For the last three years, as his health deteriorated, he managed to keep his sprits up all for his daughter. He still brought some sunshine to the doctors and nurses that worked with him and there were several that he absolutely adored. Lately he lost some of that spark as some do when it seems the weight of the world is on their shoulders. There were tears, there were arguments, and sadness. But up until his last moments, he was determined to overcome all the obstacles that he suffered these last 13 months.
