Richard Harkins

Richard G. Harkins, age 70, of Gowen, passed away early Thursday morning, November 27, 2014 at Spectrum Health-United Hospital in Greenville. The son of Lester & Aileen (Woods) Harkins, he was born on October 7, 1944 in Marion. A veteran of the Army National Guard, he was a member of the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101 in Greenville. As a skilled carpenter Dick worked most of his life in the building trades as a contractor. He also enjoyed restoring automobiles especially his 57 Chevy. Surviving are a daughter, Richelle Harkins of Greenville; two sisters, Sharon Harrod and Jayne & Bruce Campbell, both of Saginaw; four nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Visitation with the family is from 2-3 p.m. on Thursday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. The Rev. Ian Macdonald of the First Congregational Church will officiate and military honors, rendered by the American Legion, will conclude the ceremonies.
