Richard Doucette

May 29, 1947 — October 7, 2024

Richard Joseph Doucette, Sr. May 29, 1947 - October 7, 2024 Our humble father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, Pepere, and a forever friend has passed peacefully at home. If you knew Dewey, Doc, Richie, Richard, dad or Pepere; you would know him as a selfless, humble, and giving man. During the Vietnam War, he served as a medic in Germany, helping the wounded and even the occasional local giving birth. After his service to his country, Dewey pursued his love of airplanes and the dream of flight, working for Eastern Airlines for over two and a half decades (based at Boston Logan, Orlando-MCO or Disney World). Dewey was known for his genuine concern for others, love for his family, airplanes, faith, donuts and football. He was also known for always running late. When walking to grade school at the French Church in Newburyport, MA his siblings would be chiding him to “hurry up, we are going to be late”. He spent his life more interested in the journey than the destination. In the end, that big, beautiful, giving heart had to rest. One of his greatest passions, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, was talking about the Bible and what blessings God’s Kingdom would bring in the near future. Richard found great joy in volunteering his time in a Bible education work with his wife. With every passing sunset on Plum Island in Newburyport, MA or beautiful Lake Michigan he will always be in our thoughts. Sunday football games, grandkids sporting events, and family dinners and games will not go without thought of how he will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Doucette; his sons, Brian Doucette, Rick & Kelly Doucette, Jr.; and daughter, Danielle Doucette & Forrest Sabin; his adoring grandkids, Brooke, Taylor, Zach, Elle, Autumn, Jacqueline, Brandon, Blake, and Brice; his siblings, Ronnie & Charlotte Doucette, and Dianne Hill Doucette; and his cousin, Janice Coulter. He will also be dearly missed by his step-children, Tomas Lewis, Joseph & Rachael Lewis, Danniell & Thomas Rogers, David Lewis, and his step-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Raymond Arthur Bernard and Beatrice Marie Doucette (née Chatigny); his daughter, Suzanne; granddaughter, Brittany; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
