Rex Camp

Rex Eugene Camp, age 89, of Greenville, passed away Monday, September 28, 2009 at his home. The son of Clyde & Inez (Flowers) Camp, he was born on Dec. 3, 1919 in Montpelier, Ohio. On April 17, 1941 he married the former Charlotte I. Rarick and together they raised two sons and enjoyed 54 years of marriage. A veteran of World War II, Rex proudly served in the U.S. Army. After returning home, he worked for over 30 years as a boiler operator at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company. Rex enjoyed watching the Game Show Network and CNN, as well as working crossword and word-search puzzles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Camp on Dec. 21, 1995; a son, Gary Camp on April 8, 1990; a great granddaughter, Shanna Thacker; and four sisters and brothers, Ruth, Bonnie, Dick, and Lee. Surviving are a son, Ron Camp; a daughter-in-law, LuAnne Camp, both of Greenville; a brother, Bob Camp of Jonesville; six grandchildren, David & Nancy Camp, Rhonda Dixon, Christa & Bill Wright, Rachiel Kimball, Jason Camp, and Jessica Camp; thirteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their thanks to the Ionia County Commission on Aging and its Meals on Wheels program. Honoring Rexs wishes, burial will take place privately at Oakfield Township Cemetery. Instead of flowers, Rex would have appreciated contributions in his memory to the Ionia County Commission of Aging.
