Mrs. Reva Petersen, age 83, of rural Sidney, passed away Saturday evening, October 11, 2008 under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The daughter of Lewis & Carrie (Miller) Wisber, she was born on Feb. 27, 1925 at the family farm in Montcalm Township.
A 1943 graduate of Greenville High School, she married Howard H. Petersen on Dec. 20, 1946 at the First Congregational Church parsonage in Greenville. For eight years she worked at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company and retired from the former Ore-Ida Foods plant, in addition to raising her family. In recent years, Reva attended the First Congregational Church, and also enjoyed cooking, camping, and golfing but found her greatest joy in her family especially her granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Calvin Wisber and Truman Wisber. Surviving are her husband of almost 62 years, Howard Petersen of Sidney; their children, Susan & Jeff Woudenberg of Sidney, and Mark & Trudy Petersen of Greenville; two granddaughters, Kayla Petersen and Devon Petersen; a sister-in-law, Marguerite Thompson of Sidney; and numerous special friends and caregivers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 at the First Congregational Church, corner of Cass & Clay streets, Greeenville, with the Rev. Jerry Jones officiating. Burial will follow at East Montcalm Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where envelopes for memorial contributions to either the First Congregational Church or Spectrum Health Hospice are available.
