Mrs. Reta Buckley, age 91, formerly of Turk Lake, Greenville, passed away early Saturday morning, April 30, 2011 at Twin Oaks Retirement Community in Gowen. The daughter of Arthur Blaine & Josephine (Olsen) Minard, she was born on Dec. 28, 1919 in Sidney.
On March 7, 1936, in Palo, she married Edward Dale Buckley, who preceded her in death on February 13, 1995. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Edward W. Buckley, and Dick Buckley; three sisters, Arbutus Larsen, Arvilla Guernsey, and Peggy Hansen; and two brothers, Vern Minard and Arvin Minard.
She had worked at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company and had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur & Alice Buckley of Ovid; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann & Greg Baty of Vickeryville; a brother, Lyle Minard of Arizona; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Thursday from 1-2 p.m. at the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Dennis C. Johnson, pastor of the Greenville Bible Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will follow at East Montcalm Cemetery.
