Raymond J. Ness, age 79, of Wyoming, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022.
He was born on January 9, 1943, in Oak Park, IL, to Raymond & Mary (DeRose) Ness.
Ray enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1963 and achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd class before his honorable discharge in 1967. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

He married Constance L. DiFoggio on September 11, 1971, at St. Bernadine Catholic Church in Forest Park, IL. Together they shared over 50 years of marriage.
Ray worked as a Lead Assessor, Plant Manager and Quality Control Engineer in both automotive and nonautomotive industries. He audited companies across the world including China, Korea, South American & Europe. Ray's attention to detail and dedication also led him to writing a book "Classical Auditing Techniques for ISO/TS/16949."
He collected Lionel Model Trains enjoyed the opera and was a supernumerary actor in the Grand Rapids Opera. His favorite composer was Richard Wagner. Ray enjoyed reading WWII history and philosophy. He enjoyed movies, math and numbers. Ray was a great story teller and his stories have been passed down to his children and grandchildren. He was an avid Chicago Bears and White Sox fan. Ray was a dear friend to many and will be missed.
Survivors include his wife, Constance Lynn Ness; two children, Toni-Marie (Brandon) Olson and Raymond J. (RJ) Ness; grandchildren, Carmen Marie & Lena Rose Ness; sister-in-law, Patricia & Dr. Lynn Page; loving uncle to Ryan, Angela (Trey), Melissa, and Christopher; loving great-uncle to Parker, Page, Asher, Addie, Sophia and Christopher; three half-brothers, William, Danny and John Ness.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Charles Ness.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 3627 Linden Avenue SE, Grand Rapids. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 9:30 am until 10:30 am at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 9408 Wilson Ave SW, Byron Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am at the church. Burial with full military honors will be held at St. Sebastian Church Cemetery.
