Raymond D. Miller, age 75, of Greenville, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 4, 2011 at his home under the loving care of his family and Faith Hospice. The son of Ainsworth & Doris May (Jones) Miller, he was born on November 25, 1935 in Greenville.
On December 5, 1954, in Greenville, he married Shirley M. Holliday and together they raised two children and enjoyed almost 57 years of marriage. Ray retired from Wolverine World Wide in 1998 after over 40 years of service and in retirement he and Shirley wintered in Florida. An avid woodworker, Ray also enjoyed fishing and carpentry, but most of all delighted in time spent with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a long time member of the Belgreen Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Shirley Madole on June 19, 1991; and four brothers, Marvin Miller who died in combat in Korea in 1953, Robert Miller on January 16, 1993, Herbert Miller on October 5, 1998, and Lyle Miller on March 20, 2004.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Miller of Greenville; their two children, David Lee Miller of Glenrock, Wyoming, and Darleen (Dan) Reed of Ionia; a sister, Virginia Medler of Trufant; six grandchildren, Travis (Heather Crane) Miller, Heather (Nate) Fierke, Autumn Miller, Aimee (Mark) Barna, Alissa (Mark) Arens, and Josiah Reed; thirteen great grandchildren, Zoe Miller, Keegan Scott, Jersie Fierke, Aubryn Miller, Madison, Abigail, Camdan, Janessa, Ian, Uriah, and Aizlin Barna, and Kailyn and Peyton Arens; and several nieces and nephews.
The Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Greenville, was entrusted with the arrangements.
