Raymond Lee Hoebeke, age 78, of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. He was born November 29, 1943, in Grand Rapids, to the late, Frank George Hoebeke Jr. and Rosa Lee (Linderer) Hoebeke. Ray attended Saint Alphonsus Grade School, Creston High School, and Grand Rapids Junior College.
Ray was drafted into the Vietnam war and became a Military Police Officer for the United States Army. Upon his return home Ray continued to serve his Country as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service. Forced into an early retirement due to an injury, the better than average golfer and bowler spent his golden years golfing, bowling, shooting pool and playing cards with his friends. He fought a courageous battle in the Hops and Barley conflict and rode the wave of life all the way to the end.
Ray leaves behind his brother, Frank Hoebeke; nieces, Laura (Michael) Winick, Mariea (James) Heeringa, and Patricia (Mark) English; 4 great-nephews; 1 great-niece; and 4 great-great-nephews and nieces.
There will be one last party to celebrate Ray on Sunday, June 19, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, at Eastern Avenue Hall, 506 Eastern Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
