Ramona Snively

September 18, 1932 — December 13, 2022

"and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away" Revelation 21:4 Ramona Snively, age 90, of Cedar Lake, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born September 18, 1932, to parents Arlie Ammi and Edna May (Booth) Pierce, Ramona was the third of five children. She grew up in Mio, Michigan, and later attended Cedar Lake Academy, graduating in 1950. After marrying and having children, she attended cosmetology school. Ramona spent many years practicing cosmetology, even owning her own salon in Cedar Lake for a time. She also worked at Lakeland Mills in various positions, ending her career there as an administrative secretary. Ramona enjoyed reading, cooking (she is known for her "famous" soup and oatmeal-chocolate chip cookies), and a variety of crafts including sewing, crocheting, and making porcelain dolls. In her final years, she enjoyed crocheting afghans for her family and also making wire tree sculptures. She was a member of the Cedar Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church and loved reading her Bible. As a mother and grandmother, Ramona was generous, loving, and kind. She was always giving of her time and talents. Her family will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ammi and Edna Pierce; her sister, Jewel Buck; and her grandsons, Dean Snively and Darren Marsiglio. She is survived by her siblings, Rhonald (Mary) Pierce, of Lansing, Michigan, Juanita (Richard) Retzloff, of Cedar Lake, Michigan, and Audley (Kay) Pierce of Cedar Lake, Michigan; her children, Denise (Snively) Smith, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, Vernon Duane (Brigitte) Snively, of Cape Coral, Florida, Darcella (Robert) Daws of Stanton, Michigan, and Danette (Raymond) Oler, of Wallace, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren, Danny (Donna) Marsiglio, David (Debra) Marsiglio, Nicholas (Casey) Daws, Amanda Krupp, Shannon (Christine) Daws, Robert (Kristin) Smith Jr., Brandon Daws, Derek (Anne) Smith, Stephanie Freed, Danielle (Josh) Ludlam, Christine (Jacob) Amann; twenty-six great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Please join us celebrating her life at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the Cedar Lake Church.
