Priscilla Ertle

June 30, 1947 — February 17, 2023

Priscilla Mae "Penny" Ertle, age 75, of Spencer Township, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Corewell Health-Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids. The daughter of Ellis Raymond & Gloria Yvonne Mae (De Clozet) Patrick, was born on June 30, 1947 in Grand Rapids, and was a graduate of Grandville High School. On August 29, 1973, she married David Chester Ertle at her parent's home in Grandville, and later moved to their home in Gowen. Together they raised one daughter, Renee' Jon-d'el (Ertle) Hammond, and enjoyed 36 years of marriage until David passed away on October 12, 2009. Penny worked at Hi Ram, Steelcase, and at Town & Country Veterinary Clinic in Greenville Michigan until retirement. Animals were her passion... especially her cats. Some of her pleasures in life were cooking (she will long be remembered as a great cook), sewing, reading, gardening, attending Faith Baptist Church, and visiting with people. Her greatest pleasure and pride was her granddaughter, Lauren Hammond, a freshman at Purdue University. She was preceded in death by her brother Michael Patrick, parents, and her husband. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Renee' & Darrin Hammond; a granddaughter, Lauren Mae Hammond, of Westfield, Indiana; a sister, Patricia (Doug) Beckett of Gowen; a brother, Kevin Patrick of Tupelo, Mississippi; a sister-in-law, Linda Patrick; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. The family invites relatives and friends to gather to celebrate Priscilla's life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Faith Baptist Church, 315 S. Greenville West Drive, Greenville, with Pastor Randall Williams officiating. Instead of flowers, Penny would have appreciated contributions in her memory to the Kent County Animal Shelter (https://www.accesskent.com/Health/AnimalControl/how_to_help.htm). Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville, 616-754-5638.
