Phyllis Ann Roger, age 73, of Gowen, passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 7, 2012 at her home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The daughter of Carol Richard & Frances Adelia (McDiarmid) Stedman, she was born on Jan. 9, 1939 in Ionia.
On Jan. 29, 1957, she married Robert R. Roger, and together they raised four children. A devoted wife and mother, Phyllis also enjoyed yard sales, arts and crafts, her birds, and her flower gardens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Eileen Lowry on Nov. 15, 1993.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Robert Bob Roger; their children, Pamela & James Butler of Howard City, Helen Eileen & Ronald Blodgett, Jr. of Grant, Robetta Emma & Marshall McGuffin of Grimsley, Tennessee, and Robert Benjamin Roger of Gowen; four grandchildren, Kip Roy Rathbun, Thomas Scott Briggs, Nicholas Robert Roger, and Aaron Benjamin Roger; two brothers, Richard Dean Stedman, and Darrell Lee Stedman; siblings-in-law, Wilma & Larry Knight of Drummond Island, Louis & Doris Todd of Ada, Donald & Nancy Todd of Grant, Alice Monks of Lowell, David Todd, and Jack & Jean Todd, all of White Cloud; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with a time for sharing of memories at 8:00 p.m. Honoring Phyllis wishes, cremation will follow the ceremonies.
Instead of flowers, contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice would be appreciated. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
