Phyllis E. Hansen, age 69, of Gowen, passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 22, 2005 at Erlanger Medical Center, Chattanooga, Tenn., after suffering an apparent stroke while traveling to her winter home in Florida. The daughter of Hubert & Harriet (Wright) Fisk, she was born on Dec. 31, 1935 in Muir. Phyllis retired from the former Gibson Refrigerator Company, having worked at both the Belding and Greenville plants. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies including reading, needlework and handicrafts, traveling, playing board and card games, and listening to country music. On Aug. 13, 1984, in Greenville, she married Robert V. Hansen, who preceded her in death on May 28, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, James Fisk.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert T. & Robin Hansen of Gowen; grandchildren, Miranda & Jeremy Dryer, Timothy & Stephanie Hansen, and Dana DeGroot-Hansen, all of Gowen; three great grandchildren, Hayden Hansen, Nolan V. Hansen, and Alyson Dryer; six sisters, Florabell Benedittine of Belding, Jean Ross of Texas, June Sorensen of Tennessee, Frieda Thomas of Fenwick, Linda & Larry Eickenroth of Belding, and EllaBeth Graham of Clare; three brothers, Herbert & Sue Fisk of Smyrna, Michael Fisk of Florida, and Silas Nichols of Charlotte; siblings-in-law, Sharon Hansen of Wyoming, Mary Hansen, Gerald & Nancy Hansen, all of Grandville, and David Hansen of Wyoming; her special friend and travel companion, Peg Whitney of Gowen; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005 from the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville. The Rev. Kenneth Harger, pastor of Shiloh Community Church, will officiate. Burial will follow privately at Little Denmark Cemetery, Gowen.
