Phyllis Pauline Dawson, age 84, of Greenville, formerly of Lansing and Muskegon, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Spectrum Health-United Hospital in Greenville. The daughter of Lester Charles & Viola Louise (Maasden) Bushnell, she was born on December 16, 1930 in Grand Rapids and grew up in Muskegon where she graduated from Muskegon High School.
On June 20, 1947, in Muskegon, she married Charles W. Dawson and together they raised three children and enjoyed 52 years of marriage until Charles passed away on January 28, 2000.
Phyllis was an active member of St Pauls Episcopal Church in Greenville, having served on the churchs Vestry. She was an avid gardener, loved her cats, and enjoyed knitting and sewing.
Surviving are her children, Laura & Jim DeGoede of Grand Haven, Craig & Colleen Dawson of Lansing, and Scott & Roxane Dawson of Ashley; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 305 S. Clay Street at the corner of Cass Street, in downtown Greenville. The Rev. Father David Brower will preside and a luncheon in the church hall will follow the ceremonies. Instead of flowers, Phyllis would have appreciated contributions in her memory to the Montcalm County Animal Shelter or Spectrum Health Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the church.
