Phyllis Brace

December 31, 1938 — April 22, 2016

Phyllis Jean Brace, age 77, of Stanton and formerly of the Lansing area, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at her home under the loving care of her family and Heartland Hospice. The daughter of Leon and Myrtle (Faught) Dutcher, she was born on December 31, 1938, in Detroit. On June 21, 1958, in Dimondale, she married Robert O. Brace. In addition to raising six children, Phyllis also drove school bus for the Grand Ledge Public Schools. Phyllis was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing and other handicrafts, and delighted in winning at card games, especially Euchre. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Earl, George, Rex, and Kenneth; and two sisters, Dorothy and Peg. Surviving is her husband of nearly 58 years, Robert; their children, Gregory & Lorie Brace of Haslett, Christopher & Penny Brace of Sunfield, Melanie Brace & Gary Lenza of Port Orchard, WA, Penny & Allen Walter of Grand Ledge, Brenda Brace of Horton, and Monte Brace of Stanton; their grandchildren, Jay & Veronica, Raquel, Alicia, Andrew & Ellie, Shelby & Shelbi, Sarah, Emma, Mara, Robert & Stephanie, Travis & Michelle, Don & Mandy, Katie, Monica & Anthony, and Jeff; and great-grandchildren, Quinn, Elijah, Alyce, Aurora, Emma, Skylar, Landon, Brooklyn, Bailey, Kaedyn, Lily, Logan, and Lexi; and many nieces, nephews, and other special family and friends. A gathering of remembrance will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 2-5 p.m. at The First Presbyterian Church of Dimondale (162 Bridge St, Dimondale, Michigan). Instead of flowers, Phyllis would have appreciated contributions in her memory to the American Lung Association, Heartland Hospice, or the Presbyterian Church of Dimondale.
