He was a truck driver most of his adult life, and cherished being on the open road. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Steven M. Lipp. Surviving are his children, Bettina L. Lipp, and Phillip C. Phillip loved many, and many loved him. He tried to love others how he knew God loved them. Phil gave his heart to God many years ago, he prayed often and believed that Jesus was his Lord. He always tried to look at the positives, and within overcame the negatives. When stress arose he would pray to his Lord. Phil had many hobbies and interests including: swimming, fishing, boating, water skiing, bungee jumping, model rockets and airplanes, roller skating, watching morning game shows and westerns. Some of his favorite shows were Gunsmoke and Bonanza. He said his favorite place to go to as a child was Duck Lake, near Olivet, MI. Visiting the casino was one of Phil's favorite activities. Phil loved to take his family on vacation. He loved driving on the open highways and unknown roads. Phil enjoyed BBQ's and cooking for family and friends. He adored classic rock, and his favorite band was Journey. Phil was a true jack of all trades who enjoyed maintaining his household, fixing anything broken, working on cars and trucks and anything with an engine. Phil was a hard worker who went beyond expectations and who sacrificed to provide for his children. Phil's physical prescence, smile, humor, and his famous "Lipp smirk" will be missed by so many. Phillip was a brave, strong man who fought a debilitating disease. He was very sad that he knew he wouldn't stay with us much longer. He wanted to see his grandbabies grow larger and larger. In our hearts and minds, we believe Phil is watching over us, and we look for the signs showing that he's still among us. A committal service at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, with full military honors will take place on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. If flowers are to be donated please do not have them in a glass vase and send to Bettina's residence in Battle Creek. Arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids. Phillip C. Lipp Jr., age 56, of Battle Creek, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
