Philip E. Hecker, age 72, of Grandville, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, surrounded by love with family by his side. He was born on June 29, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Robert & Mary (Wacker) Hecker. Philip enlisted in the U.S. Army, 1st Cav, in 1964, and proudly served in Vietnam (1965-1966). Throughout his life he enjoyed time with his grandkids and family, bowling, hunting, fishing, and being in the outdoors. He was a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America, where he was a pastPresident and past Treasurer of the Charles S Kettles Chapter 310 in Ann Arbor, MI; a life member of American Legion where he was a past Commander of Post 322, Saline, MI; a life member of VFW Post 423, Ann Arbor, MI; and a life member of Disabled American Veterans. He also was a past Commander of the Washtenaw County Council of Veterans. Throughout his life he enjoyed time with his grandkids and family, bowling, hunting, fishing, and being in the outdoors. He also was a past Commander of the Washtenaw County Council of Veterans. Philip married Regena Plock on March 26, 1983 in Milan, MI,and together they had a daughter, Stephanie (Eric) Huizenga. He is also survived by 4 boys from a prior marriage, Philip (Teri) Hecker Jr., Gary (Kim) Hecker, Allen (Tracey) Hecker,and Justin Hecker; 9 grandchildren; and his siblings, Robert Hecker Jr, Rosemary Hall, Laura Barnhart, John Hecker, and Patty (Bill) Edwards. He is preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life will take place 10:00 am, Monday, July 15, 2019, at Chapel Pointe Church, 3350 Baldwin St, Hudsonville. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 2:30 PM, 15501 Dickman Rd, Augusta, MI, 49012. .
