Philip Edward Bassler, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 22, 2024 at the age of 66. He was greeted by his loving parents Forest and Gertrude Bassler, his son Eric Bassler , his nephew Job Nederveld, father and mother in law Dale and Leona Hubers, and many others whom he loved and cherished.
Philip was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Tammy Bassler of 44 years.
He was a loving father to his children: Sara Bassler, Ryan Bassler, Philip (Trisha) Bassler, and Tricia Baker-Burdo (Michael).
He considered his children and grand children to be his biggest accomplishment in life.
He had six grandchildren: Gabrielle Baker, Kole Bassler, Alayna Baker, Noah Bassler, Brekyn Bassler, and Jaxon Mahoney.
Philip is also survived by his siblings, Bill (Allison)Bassler, Verna (Terri)Meyers, Fran (Dan)Bauwman, Brother in law Tim Hubers, and Marc(Tammy) Hubers.
A graduate of Hudsonville Public High School, Philip found his calling as a custom machinist and welder. He ended his career as the owner of Bassler Machine.
Phil had a zest for life that was second to no man. He was known for being an animated storyteller, captivating those around him with vivid stories about the unbelievable life he had led. He was funny, and his humor brought joy to those around him and made people want to be near him. He was magnetic. To know him was to love him.
He had many hobbies that he enjoyed such as: traveling, boating, hunting, fishing, shooting, and collecting knives and unique lighters.
He taught his children and grand children about anything and everything that he did. It could have been building a deck or driving a car.
He was always calm, patient and precise.
Philip was a man of faith, whose Christian values guided his actions and relationships. His warm heart, generous nature, and dedication to his family and friends will be deeply missed. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and fond memories that will be cherished forever.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Philip’s life at the Jamestown Reformed Church, 2554 Riley Street, Jamestown, MI. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Jamestown Reformed Church. Visitation will continue at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the church, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am, with a lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alzheimer's Association in honor of Philip’s memory. May he rest in eternal peace.
