Paul Dykema, age 80, of Blue Lake (Spencer Township), passed away Thursday afternoon, May 28, 2009 at Our Place Cares in Greenville.
The son of Alice (Kuiper) & John Dykema, Sr., he was born on Dec. 7, 1928 in Grand Rapids and was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army.
On Oct. 7, 1961 in Grand Rapids, he married the former Lou Anne Mieras. Paul worked as a driver for Dykema Excavating and enjoyed golfing, gardening, ice fishing and could fix just about anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lou Anne Dykema on Sept. 1, 2008; and two brothers, John Dykema Jr. and Peter Dykema.
Surviving are four children, Linda (Kevin) Kuhn, Clifford Dykema, all of Blue Lake, Paul A. (Edna) Dykema of Gowen, Pam (Tony) Baker of Cedar Springs; four grandchildren, Tyler and Taylor Baker, and Kevin and Jaime Kuhn; a sister, Martha (Gerrit) Holstege; three brothers, Charles (Ruth) Dykema, Andrew (Carrol) Dykema, and Benjamin (Charlene) Dykema; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Dykema, and Betty Mieras; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Spencer Mills Church, 12710 17 Mile Road off of Lincoln Lake Avenue, with a luncheon following.
