Patrick Michael Froman, 73, of Grand Rapids, Wednesday, July 8, 2020.
He was born on April 6, 1947, in Grand Rapids.
A common sense man, who always had a "lecture" for his daughters and grand kids, imparting sound advice in hopes they would make smart choices. An avid collector of coins, he liked the links to the past and often wondered if a coin had been carted across the plains in a covered wagon, or used to pay a soldier on a long ago battlefield. He always had a dollar for his 11 great-grandkids. He served his community for a number of years as a Reserve Sheriff's deputy for Kent County and was a proud member of Sons of the American Legion for 36 years. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Walter and Eva Faass; his parents, Walter Froman and Loraine Ward; and older brother, "Bud" Froman.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Zelda Froman; daughters, Dawn (Matt) Whitlatch and Dena (Brian) Goosen; grandchildren, Matthew (Naomi) Whitlatch, Patrick (Stefannie) Whitlatch, Jessica (Dan) Little, Joshua (Buffy) Froman, and Danielle (Eric) Matusewic; and 11 great grandchildren.
Per Pat's wishes a private family Memorial will take place at a later time. In Lieu of Flowers, Donations can be made to The St. Mary's Foundation at Mercy Health to the Nurse's Education Fund in recognition of Amber F and Brittany K.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids, 616-452-3006, exclusive providers of Veterans Funeral Care.
