Patricia M. Thayer, age 48, of Greenville, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 18, 2007 under the loving care of her husband, her family, and Unity Hospice at her parent's home in Belleville, Illinois after a long and courageous battle with ALS/Lou Gerhig's Disease. The middle child of Paul F. & Marilyn A. (Schaeffer) Fournie, she was born on Dec. 12, 1958 in Belleville. After high school, she went to work at Olga's Kitchen and soon became a manager.
Her career with Olga's took her to many different cities managing their restaurants, including the store at Woodland Mall in Grand Rapids. She then began a career with the U.S. Postal Service, which eventually brought her to Greenville, where she met fellow postal worker and the love of her life, (as she was his) Michael G. Thayer.
After their first date on Nov. 29, 1997, they were constantly together and married on Nov. 29, 2002. She enjoyed sports, playing games, reading, and going to the movies. But, her favorite thing to do was hanging out with her husband... which was great, because his favorite thing to do was hanging out with her !
Patricia was a beautiful, kind, smart, nice, and classy lady who touched the hearts of many people -- but none more than that of her husband, Michael. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her husband, Michael G. Thayer of Greenville; her parents, Paul & Marilyn Fournie; her parents-in-law, George & Opal Thayer; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael & Tiffany, and Daniel; four older sisters; four younger brothers; numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews; and her special friend, Sheryl.
Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Patricia would have appreciated contributions in her memory to either the ALS Association or your local Hospice.
