Patricia L. "Pat" Norton, age 83, of Greenville, passed away Thursday morning, January 24, 2013 at Spectrum Health-United Hospital Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Greenville. The daughter of Ernest Oscar & Elsa Catherine (Stichweh) Munson, she was born on July 31, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois. On Nov. 29, 1958, in Cadillac, she married Manus Edward Norton and together they enjoyed nearly 54 of years of marriage.
Pat worked as a billing clerk at the former United Memorial Hospital, in addition to volunteering as the area coordinator for Service for Military Families with the American Red Cross, and was a longtime member of St. Charles Catholic Church. In addition she tutored students at St. Charles Catholic School, enjoyed gardening and family genealogy, and most of all delighted in time spent with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her only sister, Dolores C. Munson on May 21, 1950; and her husband, Manus E. Norton on October 12, 2012.
Surviving are her daughter, Mindy Norton of Mt. Pleasant; a niece, Mary Nielsen-Towers & Ted Cowles of Greenville; a nephew, Jim & Bonnie Wilson of Midland; three great nephews and a great niece, Eric & Brianne Wilson, Chad & Shannon Wilson, Larry Nielsen, and Tara & Jim Babbitt; three great-great nephews, Trevor Nielsen, Mitchell Babbitt, and Jack Babbitt; two great-great nieces, Elizabeth Nielsen and Lilly Babbitt; several cousins in Cadillac, Chicago, and Wisconsin; many, many dear friends; and her beloved dog, Chubby. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew her.
Visitation is Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, Greenville, with the Rev. Father Michael F. Cilibraise presiding.
