Page Lombardo-Elmore

August 20, 1968 — August 9, 2020

On August 9th, 2020, around 9:45p.m., Page Marie Lombardo-Elmore of Rockford, Michigan returned home to Eternity. She was requested by her husband of 25 years, Kevin Elmore, to get the homestead ready, and that he would be along shortly after his work here is done. Page handled this chapter in her life with her usual humble and unassuming strength and wisdom. Her beauty shined all the more brightly. I can hear her reaction to these words as though she were here "yeah, I'm alright," (just take the compliment Page, you are marvelous...can I get a witness?). Page was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to John Lombardo and Joan (Wester); she resided in Lowell for the first 12 years of her life. Tragically, her father passed away when she was 9 years old. John and Joan had three other children, Page was the youngest. Page's widowed mother later married Leonard Venneman of Lowell, Michigan. After years of living in Adrian, Michigan, Joan and Leonard returned to Lowell where they reside to this day. [Critical note, if not for the move to Adrian, and the Lenawee County area in general, the man typing these words, in a state of profound sorrow and gratitude, may not be the one typing them. I don't know who or what to thank... but thank you]. Leonard has three children, Leonard (Carol) Venneman, Jeff Venneman, and Gretchen (John) Barnett, and their families. Page graduated from Sand Creek High School in 1986. She worked in manufacturing for 10 years, where she met her husband. They were married on September 1, 1995 in Redstone, Colorado. Kevin and Page moved to the Denver Area of Colorado in 1997 where they resided for 7 years. She went into the insurance industry and worked her way up into management. During the seven years they resided in Colorado being Aunt Page and Uncle Kevin to Perrie's children (who resided there at the time) were important roles they played. Kristina, Cory and Karly all report Aunt Page and Uncle Kevin played their parts well, and had an impact on their lives, Page and Kevin say the same of them. In 2004 Page and Kevin returned home to Michigan and moved to their current home in Rockford in 2005. Page continued her work in insurance, until she heard a different calling. She studied nursing at Montcalm Community College and became a registered nurse. She spent several years working in long term care, where she touched (and was touched by) many lives. In one of her husband's favorite accounts Page reports one of the residents made the observation - highly accurate, I must add - that Page "looked like someone who was very loved by her husband." Page spent the last few years of her career as a medical/surgical nurse at Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville, where she had her usual widespread, positive impact. She was a beloved member of the nursing staff, and their love, kindness, and support assisted Page and Kevin through some of the challenges of the last couple years of her life. We are very grateful. She is survived by her sister, Perrie (Bill) Onan; her two brothers Peter (Becky) Lombardo and Patrick (Judy) Lombardo; cousins, Misty (Mark) Anderson, April McClure; Aaron (Lynne) Wester, Andy (Sue) Wester, Rob Lombardo, Monya Cohen, Layle Lombardo, and Sunny Paperny; uncles, Doug (Sue) Wester, Greg (Marilyn) McClure, and Sam (Ruth) Lombardo; many, many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews; her parents-in-law, Charles & Kathleen Elmore of Tecumseh, Michigan. One of the values that Page embodied was "reverence for life," in fact Page and Kevin had that very Albert Schweitzer quote on their checks for decades. The many pet dogs (and rabbits awhile back) they had over the years were fortunate to be in their care. Page was an avid exerciser, primarily weight lifting and running. She found a sense of peace and freedom in trail running. By many accounts she is the kindest person many have come across, and it was all so natural and unaffected, it wasn't so much that she tried to be this way, she just was. It was innate, deeply a part of her being. She was voted as having the "best eyes" in high school. Let us not forget that the eyes are known to be the gateway to the Soul, the beauty that shone through ran deep. Her husband knows, always has known, and will for all of Eternity that he is blessed beyond measure to call her his wife. Page loved music. If forced to pick a genre I have no doubt she would go with the smooth sounds of the 1970's. She was particularly into the Bee Gees. In a recent interaction Kevin inquired of Page (to use a line from the Brothers Gibb) "How Deep is Your Love?" she threw the question back at her husband. They traded superlatives back and forth, until they both agreed upon a term...unfathomable. I love you my Dear Page and I always will. A memorial for family and friends will be finalized and announced in the near future. Burial will take place privately at Oakfield Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider a donation in Page's name to the Humane Society.
